The Ludington area is one of the most beautiful areas in western Michigan. Just driving along the tree lined roads leading to Ludington is a wonderful experience. The inn is 7/10's of a mile from sandy Stern's Park with the pier, and 1/4 mile long incredible Lake Michigan beach to stroll along. From spring into early fall, climb to the top of the Big Sable lighthouse, now over 150 years old, and one of the tallest lighthouses in Michigan. Enjoy walking and biking around miles of scenic trails, and enjoy the river and dam areas besides lovely Lake Michigan and Hamlin Lake. The Ludington State Park also has bikes to rent (or bring your own) along with canoes and kayaks and plenty of fun items in the general store. The annual Ludington July 4th parade is not to be missed. It is definitely one of the best parades in the state and it passes right by the inn. Candlelite Inn guests will all have a prime view in comfort as we put all the patio furniture out the night before to claim your spaces. Featured parade guests include the Scottville Clown Band and they are as delightful as their costumes. They have been performing and wowing audiences for over 100 years. During the parade our front porch will be filled with complimentary appetizers and beverages for everyone followed by our annual Candlelite Inn BBQ. In the evening, stroll down to Stern's Park and grab a sandy beachfront spot to watch the 4th of July fireworks blast off over Lake Michigan.
