It's all about all of the little things here at Candlelite Inn! A delightful full service Ludington Bed & Breakfast
Your Innkeepers Chris, Kyle and Melanie welcome you to Ludington, Michigan's Candlelite Inn Bed & Breakfast.
It is so important for our family to do whatever we can to make you feel at home the moment you arrive, to be as accommodating as possible, and to offer our guests plenty of enjoyable options. After all, this is your special getaway, and on many occasions, guests have been unable to take little personal time for themselves for months, or even for years. Here at our Ludington Bed & Breakfast, we strive to provide much more than just a room, so that you may leave with fond memories of your treasured time away.
Your innkeepers Chris and Kyle, along with sister Alicia and mom Melanie were born and raised in Michigan. We all grew up on the eastern side of Michigan. For about seven years when Melanie was growing up, parents Harvey and Irene kept a classic Richardson wooden boat on Lake Huron, close to my grandmother. However, to drive to Port Sanilac was almost two hours each way.
Since finding our niche here on historic Ludington Avenue at the very end of 2005, Kyle, Chris and Melanie count our blessings every day. We are so fortunate to find ourselves in lovely Ludington, and like our guests, we never tire of gazing out the big front windows at the surrounding historic homes. Candlelite Inn Bed & Breakfast is just down the avenue from awe inspiring Lake Michigan, with the most beautiful parks and pure sand beaches in the entire state.
Melanie has a B.S. in Psychology, but had the same amount of credits in English. As you can tell by this website, I very much enjoy writing. Chris and Kyle, two of my three wonderful children have returned after college to make our dreams come true here, and follow in mom Melanie's footsteps as your innkeepers. Daughter Alicia met her husband Mike at Candlelite Inn Bed & Breakfast on the magical front porch. Alicia and Michael reside in Howell with their adorable children Sloan and Samuel. My children (okay so maybe they aren't exactly kids any more) are my heros. Having our Ludington bed and breakfast is a labor of love, and we all have many plans for the upcoming years. No matter what your reasons are for a getaway, we invite you to come to Candlelite Inn Bed & Breakfast in Ludington, Michigan, fall in love with the welcoming at home atmosphere, and the myriad of special touches we continually are working on.
One of our fun signs in the kitchen besides 'I heart bacon', says 'Baking is in my soul'. It truly is. Chris and Kyle's northern "Great Grammy" sailed through the culinary program at Detroit's famed Statler - Hilton Hotel, where she was a pastry and salad chef. She later retired from General Motors where for years, she was an Executive Dining Room chef at the downtown Detroit Headquarters. Southern "Great Grammy Em" was equally amazing. She would fill the table with delights whenever we came to visit, as we certainly enjoy doing for our guests. Grandma Irene could have easily had her own bakery, and was still baking pies into her 90's. Sons Chris and Kyle along with daughter Alicia have all inherited the "cooking and baking" genes. We spare no expense on our lovingly prepared Candlelite Inn breakfasts and daily made from scratch desserts.
Chris and Kyle's grandpa Harvey was a World War II Army Air Force Veteran, and all of Melanie's uncles were either in the Navy or Air Force. You may see our dear friend Sherri here in the summer, and she is an Air Force Veteran. Sherri is blessed with a beaming smile that lights up the entire inn. Beloved Chuck is a retired naval aviator. We honor and celebrate with all of you always. Please make sure we know you are military for a 10% room or Romantic Retreat Suite discount. All veterans and active duty military enjoy November getaways with our grateful thanks, and receive a 50% room or suite discount all month long.
Candlelite Inn Bed & Breakfast has a very romantic, inviting, relaxing and healing atmosphere, with unexpected amenities. Our family invites you here to be a part of it, and to hopefully return again and again as so many of our guests do. You are our extended family, and it is the best feeling in the world for Chris, Kyle and I to be greeted with huge grins and happy hearts.
Thank you so much, Chris, Kyle & Melanie Barnard
