Your Innkeeper Melanie and our family welcome you to Ludington's Candlelite Inn Bed & Breakfast. It is so important for our family to do whatever we can to make you feel at home the moment you arrive, to be as accommodating as possible, and to offer our guests plenty of enjoyable options. After all, this is your special getaway, and on many occasions, guests have been unable to take little personal time for themselves for months, or even for years. We strive to provide much more than just a room, so that you may leave with fond memories of your treasured time away.
Your innkeeper Melanie was born and raised in Michigan. We grew up on the eastern side of Michigan and for about seven years, my parents kept a classic Richardson wooden boat on Lake Huron, close to my grandmother. However, to drive to Port Sanilac was almost two hours each way. Now, we count our blessings every day. We are so fortunate to find ourselves in lovely Ludington, and like our guests, we never tire of gazing out the big front windows at the surrounding historic homes. Candlelite Inn Bed & Breakfast is just down the avenue from awe inspiring Lake Michigan, and the most beautiful parks and pure sand beaches in the entire state.
I have a B.S. in Psychology, but had the same amount of credits in English. As you can tell by this website, I very much enjoy writing. Chris and Kyle, two of my three wonderful children have returned after college to assist in making our dreams come true here. Daughter Alicia met her husband Mike right here at Candlelite Inn on the magical front porch, and they live in Howell. My children (okay so maybe they aren't quite kids any more) are my heros. Having our bed and breakfast here in Ludington is a labor of love, and we have many plans for the upcoming years. No matter what your reasons are for a getaway, we invite you to come to Candlelite Inn, fall in love with the welcoming at home atmosphere, and the myriad of special touches we continually are working on.
One of our fun signs in the kitchen besides 'I heart bacon', says 'Baking is in my soul'. It truly is. My northern "Grammy" sailed through the culinary program at Detroit's famed Statler - Hilton Hotel, where she was a pastry and salad chef. She later retired from General Motors where for years, she was an Executive Dining Room chef at the downtown Detroit Headquarters. My southern "Grammy Em" was equally amazing and would fill the table with delights whenever we came to visit, as we certainly enjoy doing for our guests. We spare no expense on our lovingly prepared breakfasts and daily made from scratch desserts.
Candlelite Inn has a very romantic, inviting, relaxing and healing atmosphere, with unexpected amenities. Our family invites you here to be a part of it, and to hopefully return again and again as so many of our guests do. You are our extended family, and it is the best feeling in the world to be greeted with huge grins and hugs.
Thank you so much, Melanie, Chris, Kyle, Alicia & Mike
