Candlelite Inn Bed & Breakfast & covid-19
Staying Small, Safe, Serving Each Room Individually

From the beginning of the pandemic, here at Candlelite Inn Bed & Breakfast, we have been very busy studying, learning and listening to multiple webinars regarding every aspect affecting the hospitality industry.

Candlelite Inn Bed & Breakfast has always been a member of the Michigan Lake to Lake Bed & Breakfast Association, and we are also members of our two national associations.  As such, we are held to a strict code of cleanliness, food safety, building protection, security and hospitality.  We are inspected by an independent trained quality assurance professional from Lake to Lake.  We must pass each and every item on the nine page list to receive our certification.

Here is a cozy corner of the Romantic Retreat Suite featuring a comfortable love seat for two.

Regarding covid-19, Candlelite Inn Bed & Breakfast follows the latest guidelines from multiple sources, including the CDC and the Association of Lodging Professionals, and is continually adapting to best serve our treasured guests.  Although our inn offers a wide assortment of enjoyable sitting areas and nooks to choose from both indoors and out, we have chosen to go smaller this year.  As 2021 is knocking on the door and I am updating, we are continuing to stay small into the coming year.

Except for whole house bookings, we are not offering all seven rooms at one time.  We feel that by being smaller, our guests will have even more space in which to relax completely, and we can pamper and serve you best. Cutting back on any of  the special treats and home baked desserts we are known for is simply not an option.  Room block outs also ensure we have extra time for deep cleaning, laundry, and sanitizing throughout each day.

It is truly all of the little things that matter most in life, and this is our philosophy now more than ever.

If you have not been here lately, or are a first time guest, when driving in you will see two decks.  There is an additional new seating area with umbrella for two, along with a fourth outdoor area with a hammock for two in the far back.

Another item we have a renewed appreciation for, is the fact that two of our rooms, the more modern Michigander and Ludington Rooms are located in the back in the inn.  They are toward the rear on the second floor, and you can choose to climb the inside stairs, or just take the back outside steps.

The Romantic Retreat Suite is the only guest room on the main floor, with its door is conveniently located off of the back entryway porch.  Also on the second floor but inside the 1905 inn, are Alicia's Room and the Garden Room, offering views of our historic avenue along the front, with the Victorian Room one side and the Lace Room tucked back into the other corner.

Inside, the enclosed front porch is a great hit with guests, with a comfortable (that is what we strive for in every way) and relaxed feel.  There are four different sitting areas here.  The reading nook we find also makes a fun little snack and breakfast nook, and we can add a table for one or two to the elegant great room.  The formal dining room, in room dining, or dining outside on one of the decks, are other terrific breakfast options.

We are also ensuring each room has it's own special surprise treats.  Desserts and ice cream can be delivered to you, and we are happy to assist at any time.  Otherwise, each room has its own special covered domed dessert dish in a separate area.  Your own dishes, silverware, napkins and anything else you may need, are here for you.  We can even provide you with a lovely brunch basket to take down to the beach.  As we are cooking individual multiple course breakfasts per room, and serving everyone in a different space, we find it is better to spread out breakfasts a bit.  Since opening back in 2007, we have always been on our guests' schedules, making every morning fresh and unique.

There are multiple large hand sanitizers stationed around the first floor, along with plenty of assorted napkins, sanitizing spray, wipes and large boxes of food grade tissues.  The powder room is well equipped as frequent hand washing is always a must.  Frequently touched surfaces are continually wiped or sprayed down throughout the day and late into the evening.

Stay safe and stay small.  These are big words.

We are so grateful for each and every one of the extra special people who walk through our doors, many of you monthly or annually, and we consider you all as part of our family.

Thank you all very much,
Melanie, Chris, and Kyle
