Candlelite Inn Newsletter: Ludington Bed & Breakfast News
Latest B&B updates, recipes, specials, events
Greetings from the romantic Candlelite Inn Bed & Breakfast in lovely Ludington!
Year round, Ludington is absolutely beautiful. Even on windy, rainy days, I love to be at Stearns Park watching the wild waves wash up and sometimes right over the pier leading out to one of the Ludington lighthouses. There are even more amenities and special touches within the bed and breakfast, including new light blue terry spa robes for every one in every room, and new champagne buckets on silver stands. As our 25th wedding anniversary is this summer, we have added additional amenities to each room so our wonderful guests can celebrate too!
New - Carriage Rides In Ludington & Van Tours
Summer is coming, and so are new businesses for our guests to enjoy. With over 500 flats of red, white and purple petunias along our avenue (plus we added extras ourselves) Ludington is so beautiful.
Complimentary Romance Package
We have so much fun mixing pieces of today with vintage treasures of yesteryear. With every set of guests that visit Candlelite Inn, we feel so fortunate to be innkeepers and to share this well loved inn, and also to share our love of cooking.
Winter Wonderland at Candlelite Inn In Ludington
There is a fresh blanket of snow falling today and the snowflakes are so pretty. Ludington is just beautiful in the winter, and the inn is so cozy! Take advantage of quiet season by requesting the complimentary Candlelite Inn January Pizza and Dessert Special.
New Murder Mystery Updates - Star Trek for October
Candlelite Inn Bed & Breakfast guests will be able to take advantage of two new mysteries (one is a murder mystery and one is not for 2007). Looking ahead to 2008, we are waiting for a Hawaiian murder mystery which is being written currently. This will be a June murder mystery and we have already planned a pig roast to go with this exciting event.

Happy 2007 - Candlelite Inn Bed & Breakfast
With the winter, both Ludington and the Candlelite Inn are a bit quieter now, and it is so relaxing and inviting inside the inn. I couldn't be happier with everything we have added during our first year here. The next big project is more yardwork and a secret garden in the back.
Candlelite Inn Early Winter Update
Candlelite Inn also has a number of upcoming special event weekends including murder mysteries, scrapbooking, dessert, chocolate lovers, scavenger hunt, western weekend and more. If you can plan your vacation from Sunday to Thursday, mention this extra special promotion to receive 1/2 off your second night - good from November 2006 to May 1, 2007. We really look forward to being able to assist you in having a delightful getaway at Candlelite Inn Bed & Breakfast.
2 eggs beaten 1 cup seedless red grapes juice from 1 lemon 1 can drained pineapple tidbits 4 T. sugar 2 small cans drained mandarin oranges 2 T. butter 2 cups miniature marshmallows 1 cup whipping cream, whipped
Heat slowly and whisk eggs, lemon juice, and sugar over low heat until thick and smooth. Remove from heat and stir in butter. Chill. Then whip heavy cream and gently fold whipped cream, fruits and marshmallows to thickened lemon mixture. Looks beautiful served in a crystal bowl or other favorite bowl. Can make night before and chill overnight. Serves 10 to 12. Both of our sons and our daughter have also taken turns making this dish, as we can't seem to have a Thanksgiving or Christmas dinner without this special fruit salad.
Candlelite Inn Baked Blueberry French Toast
4 eggs 1/2 cup half and half 1 tsp. Watkins Vanilla or 1 1/2 to 2 tsp. other vanilla 8 to 10 pieces of 1" sliced French bread Blueberries 1/2 cup sugar 2 T. butter or margarine 1 t. cinnamon
Beat eggs, half and half and vanilla in large bowl. Add bread slices to dip, turning once to coat each side, and place dipped bread in a 9 X 13 baking dish. Cover baking dish and chill overnight. In morning, place blueberries (at least a pint - fresher the better) in bottom of the baking dish. Replace soaked bread on top of berries. Mix suger, butter and cinnamon together until crumbly (I like to also mix this the night before and then refrigerate in a small covered bowl). Sprinkle the sugar mixure on top of soaked bread. Bake uncovered at 350 until bubbly and golden (I start checking at 30 minutes, and remove when topping is bubbling nicely).
Candlelite Inn Soft Lemon Cookies
1 box lemon cake mix (we like Duncan Hines) 1 small Cool Whip, softened 2 eggs confectioners sugar for dipping
Mix cake mix, eggs and soft Cool Whip together. Using an ice cream scoop, drop small balls into sugar so they are lightly covered. Drop on greased cookie sheet. Bake 10 to 12 minutes at 350 degrees. Easy, soft and flavorful. It was also the favorite cookie at our recent holiday tea and tour.
Candlelite Inn Deviled Ham & Cheese Ball
1 can Underwood Deviled Ham 1/2 T. lemon juice 1 pkg cream cheese softened - 8 oz 8 oz sharp cheddar, shredded finely 1 T. finely minced onion 1/2 T. parsley if desired (Garnish ideas - almonds, pecans, radish slices, pimento, or leave plain)
In a medium bowl, combine all ingredients except nuts. Chill until starts to firm up. Form into desired shape (we have done balls, footballs and bells) and roll in nuts or other garnish depending on preferences. Great plain too. Chill several more hours or overnight. Serve with assorted crackers. This was on the buffet on Thanksgiving day and it just disappeared.
