The walks will be offered at 3 p.m. every Saturday, weather permitting, starting in January. There will also be a "moonlight walk" every night at 7 o'clock. There will be 40 pairs of "loaner" snowshoes available on a first come first served basis. The snowshoes will fit participants age 8 and up. Participants can also bring their own snowshoes. Provisions on Ludington Avenue also rents snowshoes and cross country skiis.

Snowshoe Making Classes - These popular all-day classes offer the opportunity to learn the art of making snowshoes. Upon completion of the class, participants will have top of the line traditional wooden snowshoes that will last for generations. There is a $150 fee for the class, which covers the cost of all materials. No special tools are required. Instructors will lead participants through each step. Class sizes are limited and reservations are required. Classes are scheduled for 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 16; Wednesday, Jan. 9; Sunday, Jan. 13; and Sunday, Feb. 10. There will be two night classes from 6 to 9:30 p.m. on Monday and Tuesday, Jan. 28 and 29. To reserve a spot in a class, please call the park at 231-843-9261.
